This is a bench I've had for about 15 years. I bought it at Lowes for $20 and I used it to stage the front porch of my first "fix and flip" house. The cushion was burnt orange color which went perfect with the rest of the staging decor.

Years later I moved to North Carolina and used the bench in a shop I opened in a local craft mall.
I covered the cushion with a fresh canvas painting tarp to make it more of a neutral tone to go with the shop.
Here it is in the shop!
Now that I am moved into the new beach house, I decided to put it outside on the side porch near the driveway. It didn't hold up very well to the elements and in just a few short months, the cushion developed mold, and the metal started to rust.
So I took a wire brush and scraped off the rust and gave it a couple of coats of black paint which I applied with brush. I think you get a thicker coat using a brush, and it lasts longer than spray paint. (Just my opinion) I then took some outdoor polyester fabric (that wont get moldy) and made a cushion cover.
I am really happy with the way it turned out!
The rust stains underneath are from the bench before it was painted. Pressure washing this porch will be a future project!
