A three-hour information-packed coach tour of Chicagoland's most famous Frank Lloyd Wright sights, led by an architectural historian. Starting at the JW Marriott in downtown Chicago, head for suburban Oak Park, which boasts more Wright buildings than anywhere in the world. Drive through Oak Park's historic district, viewing renowned Prairie style residences and landmark Unity Temple. Stop for a highlights tour of the famed Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, where the young architect experimented with form and space, and where his architectural philosophy evolved. Proceed to Chicago's Kenwood neighborhood, home of President Obama and two of Wright's "bootlegg" houses. Continue to the adjacent Hyde Park neighborhood, which features Wright's Heller House and a wealth of palatial residences in the shadow of the University of Chicago. At the iconic Robie House, take a highlights tour and experience what makes it Wright's best known Prairie masterpiece and a precursor of modernism. Shop at the museum shop. Return to the Marriott along scenic Lake Shore Drive, as you learn about what makes Chicago the first city of American architecture.
