DIY- SIMPLE COASTAL LAMP

I love the simple lines and subtle glow of this lamp! I think it would look great on a night stand or kitchen counter, don't you? It is so easy to make you only need a few items , the most important one being the square lamp itself. I purchased this one at Ikea (grono), but any square solid surface lamp will work.
You will need the following items:

-Lamp
-3" - 4 " wide burlap strip (or what ever width you think looks best) long enough to go around the lamp and overlap approximately 2"
-Scissors
-Hot glue gun
-E 6000 Glue
-sand dollar (smaller than 4", or so it fits on the lamp without over hanging the sides)

Lay the lamp flat on a solid surface
Wrap the burlap strip around the middle of the lamp and use a bead of hot glue and E - 6000 to attach it in the middle, and then overlap other end- attach with both glues again.
(I use both glues because the hot glue keeps it in place immediately , while the E6000 will hold it in place later even when it heats up)
This will be the back

Let that set up

Turn the lamp over and on the opposite side -attach the sand dollar with both glues.Test the sand dollar first by laying on top of the burlap strip to see which parts of it make contact with the surface. Put the glue there as well as a big dollop in the middle. (but not so much it oozes through the holes:)

Keep it laying flat to dry

When its ready- Insert a light bulb and turn it on! Let me know how yours turns out and where you wind up using it!

Happy Day ,
Lisa
